St. John, USVI

Thank you everyone for making our celebration a wonderful, blissful, beautiful time and for being witness to our marrying. We are certain that you had a unique, adventurous, tranquil time in the Smoky Mountains and heard from so many of you who hiked the Cosby Nature Trail. With 9 million visitors to the National Park each year, you are now included in the 10% who get out of their cars and walk on a trail. So congratulations to you as well and I hope you had a nice time getting back to nature, to the old growth forests that make up only 20% of the forests on the East Coast.
We have made it to paradise at the Westin Resort in St. John, United States Virgin Islands, shortly after visiting with our friends Christa & Max, on St. Thomas. The management just delivered a bottle of fine champagne to our villa, congratulating us and making sure we have a fabulous honeymoon. Now it's time for a stroll by the steel drum band and a walk along the beach with the crescent moon smiling over us like the Cheshire cat.

Dinner & Live Bluegrass on Friday night

What: Dinner & Live Bluegrass
Where: The Front Porch Mexican-American Restaurant
Address: Highway 321, Cosby (between Middle Creek Rd & the BP gas station)
When: Friday, May 2nd, 7-9 pm (bluegrass band playing at 7 and 9pm)
Their story: http://thefrontporchrestaurant.blogspot.com/

Enjoy a complimentary dinner at the Front Porch Mexican Restaurant, hosted by Dana's Mother, Mary Ellen Price. We've become regulars at this local restaurant, not only for the authentic Mexican dishes and excellent vegetarian options, but also for the local bluegrass bands that play here every Friday and Saturday nights. In fact, we have to make reservations to eat here because the band's following packs the house every Saturday! We are excited to share our experience with you and support this local business. And around here, "local" means a lot. In fact, when Aline Guzman first opened her restaurant, she was visited by a group of supporters from the Sunset Gap Community Center, many of whom still come to eat regularly, one being Dianne Levy, who is graciously hosting our wedding and reception in her backyard. We plan on introducing you to this wonderful woman a bit later.

BYOB in a brown bag (unfortunately, wine & liquor is not allowed -- welcome to the south!) You can buy beer at Webb's Market, further south on Hwy 321, about 5 miles, or in Newport on Cosby Hwy/ 321/ 32 at the By-lo Grocery between Walmart and Hwy 40 on the west side traveling southbound or right side traveling from the highway at exit 435. Don't worry, once your here, it'll make sense. And we'll have plenty of wine and rum at the wedding reception ;)

Be sure to enjoy the experience to the full extent possible by reading their story at: http://thefrontporchrestaurant.blogspot.com/

It is spring time in the Smokies! Enjoy the latest photographs from our most recent hikes. Dana is an excellent photographer.

Welcome to our wedding blog! Feel free to comment and check back often for updates.

We are planning on having dinner on Friday night together and having brunch on Sunday morning. We are working out the details and will post more information soon.

There is more information on the right panel....over there -------->>>>>>>>
so be sure to scroll down to see FAQs, registry, suggested reading, and useful translations for the southern drawl.

Please email Andrea at dreapaco@yahoo.com with the name of your accomodations (include company and name of cabin for cabins) so that we can put it on a map. There are a lot of curvy mountain roads and we'd like to send you a map before you get here so that you'll know where you are and how to get to where you're going with ease.

Invitations went out and are arriving to 28 states, 2 U.S. territories, 2 Canadian provinces and 3 countries. We invited 125 of you to join us in the Smoky Mountains for an outdoor wedding.

The weather in May will be pleasantly warm with a cool spring breeze carrying the lovely scent of wildflowers and blooming bulbs. The celebration will take place under a 20' x 80' tent. The afternoon should be warm but since we are in the mountains, the temperature will drop with the sun. I anticipate temperatures in the 60s during the ceremony and then mid to upper 50s into the evening. We will have a couple of heaters inside the tent for those of you who run cold or who are visiting from the Caribbean.

Again, welcome to our blog! We are excited to have you and look forward to seeing you soon!
